Established in 2013, the Department of Physiology is committed to promoting scientific excellence and fostering a holistic understanding of Physiology through quality teaching and research. The department strives to nurture competent, ethical, and socially responsible graduates and postgraduates equipped with strong academic and research aptitude.
At present, the Department offers Undergraduate Courses in Physiology under the New Curriculum and Credit Framework (NCCF) – B.Sc. Honours with Research in Physiology, affiliated to Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University. The curriculum includes Physiology Major with Research, Minor, Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), and Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC). Expanding its academic horizon, the Department also introduced Postgraduate studies in Physiology under the CBCS framework from the academic year 2024, marking a significant step toward advanced learning and research.
The Department strives to build a strong conceptual foundation in human physiology and integrative body functions through a dynamic curriculum and research that combines core Physiological principles with interdisciplinary perspectives in Life Sciences.
Graduates of the Department pursue higher studies in Physiology within the department or in allied disciplines as well. Over the years, many meritorious students have qualified National and State Level Eligibility Examinations and established successful careers in academia, research, healthcare, and related professional fields.
The faculty members remain deeply dedicated to the academic and holistic development of students through sincere teaching, continuous mentoring, and year-round guidance, thereby fostering intellectual growth, scientific temperament, and overall excellence.

The Department organizes Students’ Seminar Presentations & Parent-Teacher Meetings frequently. The Department has well-equipped laboratory & library facilities. All the esteemed Faculty Members of the Department besides imparting curriculum-based education are also engaged in research activities. Faculties put enormous effort to encourage the students to participate actively in various co-curricular activities, such as National/International Seminars, Webinars, Workshops, Quiz & Poster Competitions, NSS, etc. – all of which would certainly add to their credentials of academics.
